What is a Dental Crown?
Many people have damaged or decaying teeth but aren’t sure how to improve their smile. One option for damaged teeth are dental crowns. A dental crown is simply a cap that fits over the existing tooth for protection from further damage. Crowns also serve as a way to improve the look of your teeth. Crowns transform broken teeth into undamaged teeth that match the color of your surrounding teeth, and serve as a barrier from further tooth decay.
What is the Process of Getting a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is completed from start to finish in just two appointments. The dentist will examine your tooth during the first visit. Then your tooth will be prepped and fitted for the dental crown. We will give you a local anesthetic during this procedure to ensure your comfort. Your dentist will order your permanent crown and you will be given a temporary crown until your second visit.
As soon as your dentist has your permanent crown back from the lab, you will come in for your second appointment. The temporary crown will be removed and the permanent crown will be placed over your existing tooth.
